Summary of the project

FUTURUM, host organization, received following beneficiaries for a practical training in Wrocław (Poland) in the framework of the European Leonardo da Vinci – Lifelong Learning Programme:

The group was accompanied by Nicoleta Giurgiu and Andreia Rus, the Romanian teachers.

Beneficiaries arrived in the afternoon on 3rd May 2009 with their own bus. Ula Stawowczyk from FUTURUM team picked them up. They checked in at their apartments.

On first day a group was taken for a guided tour through the city of Wrocław. They visited the modern centre as well as the old town, got to know the history of the city and the most popular places there.

During training at car control stationDuring the first week they were introduced to their practical training tutors at Stacja Kontroli Pojazdów DW-01 (Car Control Station DW-01) in Wrocław, where they started their internships.The practical knowledge that the beneficiaries acquired during the programme, consisted of:

• verifying the proper functioning of the direction and braking system and the air conditioning
• assembling the structural elements of the direction and braking systems
• using specific tools and machines
• measurements with specific tools and machines
• identifying and replacing the broken and outworn pieces
• diagnosing different installations with specific testers
• tracking down efficiently the errors in the systems
• offering alternative solutions in order to fix errors
• verifying the proper functioning of the cooling system

City tourHaving acquired this knowledge, the beneficiaries obtained and developed a lot of new skills and competences:

• Knowledge about:
o the diagnosis of the automobile
o the maintenance and the mending of the automobile
o the components of the direction and braking systems; the comfort and safety systems
o the components and the role of the auto-equipments
o the functioning of the automobile
• Abilities of:
o performing maintenance and diagnose operations
o utilizing modern means of diagnosis of the automobile and the technical diagnosis documentation of the automobile
o repairing the damages resulted through diagnosis
o solving a given task within a group / team
o assembling the structural elements of the direction and braking systems
• Competences:
o to utilize modern control techniques and technologies
o to utilize the reference material in order to identify the auto components of the four stroke / cycle engine
o to verify and to test the auto components of the four stroke / cycle engine
o to identify the faults of the direction, braking and air-conditioning systems of the automobile

All students accumulated a lot of new skills connected with their interests and obtained a practical knowledge closely related with their education.


FUTURUM together with a language school El Universo have also organized during the weekend 10 hours of English language for the participants, which they all completed with excellent result. The students improved their communication skills in order to be able to fulfil their duties and to handle various situations in daily life.

The participants received short information about enterprise culture in Poland, relationships in Polish companies, information about the hierarchy and addressing of people in the first day of their stay.

During their free time beneficiaries were taken to different places in Poland. They visited the whole Lower Silesia region as well as Krakow and former concentration camp in Auschwitz. They gained information about the whole country, its customs and tradition. It gave them the overview of Polish culture and believes.

On Sunday, 31st May the students travelled back to Romania.
